TEN YEARS AFTER GENOCIDE

During 100 days (the duration of the genocide) starting from the 7th of April 2004 the people of Rwanda commemorated the 10th anniversary of the genocide. Many men and women dedicated their time to wash bones and skulls found in newly discovered mass graves. Because still, ten years after the genocide, new bodies are found. During the excavations, attempts are made to identify lost family members, using teeth, jewellery and skull characteristics. The remains of victims were ceremonially re-buried during commemoration gatherings.
